Women in Finance Asia Awards Set for May 20
GlobalTrading, a Markets Media Group publication, is pleased to present the third annual Women in Finance Asia Awards, to be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
Nominations are now open, and we are asking for our readers’ help by telling us who we should be considering. Colleagues, clients, competitors — there are many outstanding women making their mark in the capital markets business in Asia-Pacific, and we want to hear about them!
Markets Media held its inaugural Women in Finance Asia Awards in Hong Kong in 2019, and the event pivoted to virtual amid COVID-19 last year. This year’s event will also be virtual; we fully expect to be back in-person in 2022.
The Women in Finance Asia Awards have the same aim as Markets Media’s well-known Markets Choice Awards and Women in Finance Awards in the U.S. and Europe: to recognize the best of the best in capital markets trading and technology. From buy-side trading desks to sell-side banks, from global exchange groups to emerging fintechs, from incumbent technology providers to the entrepreneurs who seek to disrupt the status quo — WIFAA spans the whole market ecosystem.
Last year’s WIFAA winners included Susan Chan of BlackRock for Crystal Ladder; Erica Poon Werkun of Credit Suisse for Individual Achievement; Terecina Wong of HSBC for Excellence in Leadership; Susan Soh of Schroder Investment Management for CEO of the Year; and Cecilia Chan of HSBC Asset Management for Lifetime Achievement among others.
The 2021 program is expected to include familiar categories such as Best in Exchanges, Best in Fintech, Excellence in Sell-Side Trading, and Excellence in Leadership, as well as some new categories that we will develop based on the nominations.
Susan Chan, Head of Asia for BlackRock, said:
“Make no mistake: The financial services industry still has a very long way to go towards gender parity, but I speak for myself and BlackRock as an institution when I say we are committed to raising the bar. Visibility matters. Recognition matters. Bringing diverse voices, perspectives, and lived-experiences to the table matters. The Women in Finance Awards serve to do exactly that, and I am proud to help support the tremendous talent – current and future – that we have here in Asia.”
Please nominate today! And stay tuned for further information.
